For more than three years I've been peddling birth control pills. Basically, I spend my days going into OB/Gyn offices to tell the docs and nurses about my two pills. OB/Gyns are great, most of them are very happy people, so I usually have very good days. And, since I got pregnant, I have even better days.
I have several books about pregnancy... the week by week book and, of course, What to Expect When Your Expecting, so I have been reading and learning, BUT the best resource I have... all the docs! You see, any question I have, I can ask one doctor after the next. It's great! And, my actual doctor... I see her once a week to drop off samples. I keep thinking I'm an annoying patient, because I always have new questions, but they always have answers for me. So, I know I'm really lucky.
Another reason I'm lucky... ultrasounds! Most pregnant women get a look at their baby 3 or 4 times during pregnancy. I get to see our little man a lot more than that. My office has done about 4 ultrasounds so far, but I have another office that takes great care of me. They have a full time ultrasound tech that has down time, so if she isn't busy, she sneaks me back and I get to check out Baby Boy Wood! I love it.
I saw him today... he's right on schedule! He weighs about 2 pounds, 5 ounces! I can't believe how fast he is growing. And, I can't believe how soon he'll be here. I noticed the stork on the blog is telling me that he'll be here in less than 100 days! Crazy how time is flying!
I'm just so lucky to be reassured every single day and to get to see our little baby so often!

Football and Fashion
In case I didn't already know, I have figured out that this is my favorite time of year. The weather is beautiful and we had another great weekend of college football.
Again, I find myself wanting to blog about college football. But, I have good reason. Clark and I just got home from Austin. We were just two of the more than 98,000 strong at the Texas/Missouri game last night.

It was quite a game... the Longhorns really look like the number one team in the country. It was fun and exciting to watch.
But, there's more to this blog than just college football. It's also about fashion. As I mentioned in earlier posts... it's been hard for me to get on board with the burnt orange. I mean, I do bleed purple. But, over the last couple of years, I've given in and worn the orange to a few games. Well, earlier this year I made a comment to Clark that I wouldn't be able to wear orange this season because I'm pregnant and my little t-shirts won't fit. That was just a silly statement. Look at this:

You see, UT is a marketing machine. Yes, that says, "Future Longhorn Arriving Soon". Clark bought a second shirt for me that says, "Everybody Loves a Texas Baby". Also, I have to mention... Clark went out and bought both of these shirts on his own. It was very sweet.
So, both of these shirts are really cute and I just couldn't let UT out do TCU, so while we were in Fort Worth last month, we ran by the TCU bookstore. I looked around for the "maternity" section, but couldn't find it. So, I asked, "are there any maternity shirts?". The answer... no. That's right, TCU doesn't make them. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of TCU t-shirts that will still fit me, but it just isn't the same as one that says, "Future Horned Frog Arriving Soon". Very disappointing.
But, enough about disappointing fashion... something that isn't disappointing at all... the Frogs' victory over BYU on Thursday night. They looked great and dominated the #8 team in the country. They announced the BCS rankings for the first time today. The Frogs are #14!! For a non-BCS conference, that's pretty good! I'm not getting ahead of myself, but I will mention, if the Frogs end the season in the top 12 they would get invited to a BCS bowl... wow, I won't even let myself think about it. Also, worth mentioning... the Longhorns are #1.

Maybe that's why they have a heck of a marketing team.

The Pregnancy Epidemic
I know it's not the 1940s, but there is a baby boom going on right now. I don't know what the numbers are nationwide, but the number of pregnant women in my world is growing by the day! Seriously, I have so many pregnant friends.
So, define "so many", you ask... here's my list.
Let's start with college friends. I have a group of about 12 girls that I'm still really close to... we all pledged Zeta in 1995 (that sounds so long ago!). Anyway, check out these numbers:
Rachel -- had baby Anthony in June
Amy -- had baby Benjamin last week!
Tiffany - due in December
Julie -- due with a baby girl in February
When you add me in there, that means half of the group will have a baby in just a short eight months!
But, that's not all.
We have two cousins on Clark's side:
Leea is due in February
Meredith is due in March
Yet again, that's not all... more friends
Melanie is due in February
Susie is due with twins(!!) in March
And, I just found out today that Robin is due in May!
This doesn't even include the 10 or so babies born to people in Clark's department in the last couple of months.
That's a lot of babies!
It's really fun to think about all these babies being friends and getting play together. But, the other thing that's fun... going through pregnancy with people to talk to! Some of these girls are having their first, but some are having their second or even third babies. It's great to pick up the phone and ask about strollers and bottles and what weird thing is going on with your body. I've got girls ahead of me, so I can ask questions like, "is it normal for my belly to be getting this big" or "why is shopping for maternity clothes so difficult!?" And, it's so nice when those behind me ask a question and I actually have an answer, like, "yes, that exact same thing happened to me, it's perfectly normal."
I talk to Susie every single day. The poor girl is having double trouble... the twins are making their presence known and making her very sick. I didn't feel great in the beginning of my pregnancy, but it was nothing compared to what she is going through... I'm just hoping that she hits the "good" part of pregnancy in the next few weeks. I keep telling her that it gets better, I just hope I'm not lying to her!
So, to all the pregnant girls out there... thanks for all the advice and a listening ear! It's really fun doing this together!

The Little Man Room
Well, after a lot of hard work on the crazy textured paint, we are actually making major progress in the little man room! The furniture was delievered on Friday, so it really feels like a baby can live here!
Take a look:

We are very happy with how the paint turned out and we love our black, white and khaki room! We'll have to add stuff on the walls, but that will come. I have a vision of his name hanging above the crib, but I guess that won't happen until he actually has a name.
The glider may be my favorite part... Remy and I have been practicing our rocking. She'll be a pro by the time the little man arrives!

Are You Passionate About Your Team?
I've always loved college football and there's nothing better than a good rivalry. My experience is a good Gophers vs. Warriors game (yes, I was a gopher is high school) or a huge TCU vs. SMU game.
The big rivalry game that I remember from college went like this: It was my junior year, TCU had an 0-10 record. It's the last game of the season against the SMU Mustangs. If we win, we actually get one "W" for year, PLUS... we knock SMU out of a bowl. If we lose, it's a winless season. Well, somehow the Horned Frogs pulled it off. I was actually on the field watching the goal posts come down. I'm not knocking TCU football, we all know, I LOVE TCU football, BUT the rivalry scene at TCU just isn't the same as other schools. I didn't really learn all this until I met Clark.
I've always known that Texas/OU is a big game... but, I didn't know how big. Maybe it's because up until about two years ago I was a Texas hater. It's true, I always cheered for whoever was playing against Texas. That includes Oklahoma.
It's ironic that I actually married a Longhorn! And, slowly, but surely Clark has pulled me over to the "dark side". I even wore burnt orange when Clark took me to Texas/OU two years ago. And, I have to say... it was hard. I've always liked the Sooners. (Clark really hates this about me!)
Anyway, going to Texas/OU was a real eye-opener. I had no idea fans from opposing teams could be so mean. I was shocked at the little comments from a group of OU guys to Texas girls or vice versa. And, seeing the Cotton Bowl split right down the middle... OU red on one side, Texas orange on the other, it's amazing! But, here's what we figured out: I wasn't ready. After the game I kept talking about how mean the fans were, etc and Clark kept saying, "you weren't ready for it." Maybe I wasn't.
But, I am learning! Last year, Clark and I went to another big rivalry game. LSU vs. Florida in Baton Rouge. Both teams were in the top five. Honestly, I've never seen anything like it. Those LSU fans are crazy for their Tigers. And, they were probably a lot meaner than both the Longhorns and the Sooners.
So, since that game, Clark and I have talked a lot about the "worst" college football fan base. Who is the meanest? Clark experienced Ohio State fans.... he went to the Texas/Ohio State in Ohio. Texas won and Clark says he feared for his safety after the game. Does that make Ohio State fans worse than UT, LSU or OU fans?? Neither of us have ever been to a Michigan/Ohio State game or an Alabama/Auburn game, but, I would think those are some crazy fans, too. So, I don't think there's a way to actually figure out who is the meanest. But, what I have figured out... people are passionate about their college football teams.
There's no doubt tomorrow morning the Cotton Bowl will be rocking... it's always a big game, but this year they are both in the top five and this year both teams are really fun to watch. I'm looking forward to it. And, since the Sooners already beat the Frogs this year, I will be yelling Texas Fight louder than I ever have!

What's His Name??
You know it's a boy, so what's his name? We hear this question every single day, usually more than once a day. Here's the answer... we don't know!
We have narrowed the baby name list down to three. And, we both really love all three! I never thought that would happen. I figured Clark would have one he likes and I would have one I like, but we both love all three. So, in no particular order, here they are:
Brady
Dalton
Walker
I've gone back and forth on whether or not to "publish" our list. It's a little dangerous... what if someone really hates the name Dalton or Walker? Could that influence us? So, here's what I've come up with... if you like one of our names, let us know! If you went to school with a little brat named Brady, DON'T TELL US!
I don't think we will decide on this baby's name until he arrives, but a little survey would be interesting, so I'm adding a poll to the blog. If you have a chance, vote for your favorite, and we'll see how it turns out! BUT, I want to add a disclaimer... This is not a democracy. This poll is just for fun, we aren't committing to naming the baby based on the poll results!
I've been feeling the baby move for about a week, but Clark felt him kick for the first time tonight!
It's all very, very exciting.
