The Pregnancy Epidemic

I know it's not the 1940s, but there is a baby boom going on right now. I don't know what the numbers are nationwide, but the number of pregnant women in my world is growing by the day! Seriously, I have so many pregnant friends.
So, define "so many", you ask... here's my list.

Let's start with college friends. I have a group of about 12 girls that I'm still really close to... we all pledged Zeta in 1995 (that sounds so long ago!). Anyway, check out these numbers:
Rachel -- had baby Anthony in June
Amy -- had baby Benjamin last week!
Tiffany - due in December
Julie -- due with a baby girl in February

When you add me in there, that means half of the group will have a baby in just a short eight months!

But, that's not all.
We have two cousins on Clark's side:
Leea is due in February
Meredith is due in March

Yet again, that's not all... more friends
Melanie is due in February
Susie is due with twins(!!) in March
And, I just found out today that Robin is due in May!

This doesn't even include the 10 or so babies born to people in Clark's department in the last couple of months.

That's a lot of babies!

It's really fun to think about all these babies being friends and getting play together. But, the other thing that's fun... going through pregnancy with people to talk to! Some of these girls are having their first, but some are having their second or even third babies. It's great to pick up the phone and ask about strollers and bottles and what weird thing is going on with your body. I've got girls ahead of me, so I can ask questions like, "is it normal for my belly to be getting this big" or "why is shopping for maternity clothes so difficult!?" And, it's so nice when those behind me ask a question and I actually have an answer, like, "yes, that exact same thing happened to me, it's perfectly normal."

I talk to Susie every single day. The poor girl is having double trouble... the twins are making their presence known and making her very sick. I didn't feel great in the beginning of my pregnancy, but it was nothing compared to what she is going through... I'm just hoping that she hits the "good" part of pregnancy in the next few weeks. I keep telling her that it gets better, I just hope I'm not lying to her!

So, to all the pregnant girls out there... thanks for all the advice and a listening ear! It's really fun doing this together!
