Our Little Buckaroo and Soon-to-Be Girly Girl

When we bought Walker's "nursery decor" a year and a half ago, we decided to buy something "neutral", that way we could use it again if we had a girl.

But, I didn't anticipate having our baby girl so soon! This means we had to get another crib set anyway, because Walker isn't ready for a big boy room just yet. So, here's what we did... baby girl got the black and white gear, but we paired it with lavender walls and a hot pink sheet! I love that the room is so girly!

And, Walker is now officially a cowboy! Check out his ALL BOY room!

So, the point of all this... I love for my babies' rooms to be gender SPECIFIC! It's so much more fun.

Don't We Live In Houston for a Reason?

Okay, I'll admit it, I was a little jealous of the FOOT of SNOW that Dallas got a week ago... but, I'm totally over the cold. It has lasted way too long. That being said, there's nothing like cute pictures of Walker in a little snow. I can't believe he got to see it for the second time in his life... in Conroe!

He still likes to eat it...

And, enjoyed being outside with Bunny...

Come on Spring!

What is that bright, shinny, yellow thing in the sky? Oh, it's the SUN! We forgot what it looked like!

Since the sun came out (on the weekend!), we took advantage and went for a picnic! Such a fun little family outing.

Walker is a fan... eating on the ground is exciting!

He loved looking at all the other families and kids. And, his favorite part... the swing!

I'm looking forward to more beautiful spring days. Hanging out in the sunshine at a park is pretty fabulous.

Oh, and have I mentioned that Walker has NO interest in walking? I've decided that maybe we put too much pressure on him with his name.

Instead of running in the park... this was Walker...

I know, I know... he'll walk when he's ready! And, from what I hear, life changes when they walk... so, I'll keep enjoying the crawling for now!

Show Off

Bath time is fun... especially with an audience! While daddy was out of town this week, Bunny and Debra came over to keep us company. Walker likes bath time with friends!

Silly boy.

Yum Yum Black Beans

They are really messy, but sure do taste good!

Already the Second Baby?

Alright, I'm just going to say it. Things are different with the second baby! I guess it's because we have the "been there, done that" attitude. It just makes me laugh!

We just found out that our little darling is a girl and I already bought the crib! The first time around I had to do lots of research and I would pick something out, then take Clark back to look. This time Clark told me he didn't mind if I go ahead and take care of the details. So, the little darling ended up with a floor model.(gasp!) I got her a crib and a chest of drawers and spent less than half of what we spent on Walker. Does this make me a bad mother? The crib is exactly what I wanted and it's the same wonderful brand as Walker's furniture... it just happened to be cheap because it was on the floor. I feel okay with that!

Now it's time to get moving on her room... since the furniture was on the floor they want to get rid of it. Oops, I guess that means we need to start cleaning out!

Next topic.. the fact that she's actually a girl. I'm really excited, but it's kinda hard to get my head wrapped around it! For the last year and a half, I've only looked at boy clothes. Seriously, I walk into a baby store, go to the tiny boy section and look longingly over at the girl section, wishing I could shop over there. Don't get me wrong, I love to shop for Walker, but there's so much more for girls... I mean, there are ruffles and dresses and bows and pink and purple! So exciting. It just doesn't quite feel right that I actually get to walk over to all the frilly stuff and shop. I've looked, but haven't actually bought... yet.

But, Bunny has... how cute is this stuff?!?!

It's a GIRL!

The poll turned out to be correct! 78% said girl and Wood Baby #2 is, in fact, a girl! We are very excited.

Now it's time to buy pink!

I Think We Are Officially Parents

When you have children, things change. That's all there is to it. It's Saturday evening and I'm sitting at home... blogging. I'm not complaining... just stating facts.

I realize that things have changed because our home has changed. We don't have a bunch of guest rooms, we have baby rooms. We don't have a study or office, we have a playroom!

Yes, you read correct, we now have a playroom.

My second trimester burst of energy hit this week and I started cleaning things out and trying to organize. What I realized is our study was a complete waste of space. I needed it when I needed to have a home office. Now that I stay at home, there's no real need for two desks full of junk. So, I went to work getting the important stuff to it's new home. Yes, we have a built-in desk.. why did we need a study in the first place? Oh, because we didn't have kids when we moved in. What else would you do with a room without a closet at the front of the house?

Anyway, I got everything cleaned out and Clark moved the desks into the garage. Which created an entire room for all the toys you can imagine. Walker is thrilled.

And, so is Mommy. It took me all of about 10 seconds to realize that I can close the french doors and keep him corralled. We had several hours of fun today without having to chase him to another room!

And, I'm adding a couple more pictures because Walker is just too cute.

His new favorite position is upside down:

My favorite thing about Walker's hair...

...you never know what it's going to look like when he wakes up!

Skinny Mini

Walker is a skinny little man! We went to the doctor this week for his one-year well check and he only weighed 19 pounds 7 ounces! I was shocked, because he eats like a little pig! The doctor says it's very normal for the weight gain to slow down at this point... I'm not surprised, considering Walker NEVER sits still! He's still pretty tall... 30 inches, which is in the 50th percentile.

Anyway, the check up was perfect and Walker is doing great! It's always nice to hear that from a professional!

And, we've moved on to another milestone... NO MORE BOTTLES AND FORMULA! Woo hoo! (Although, I'm trying to keep my excitement to a minimum.... seriously, I'm going to have a newborn in a short FIVE months.)

This week we've made the transition to milk, which was simple... Walker loves it. And, we've moved to a sippy cup. For a couple of days he still wanted the bottle in the morning, but today he was happy with the cup! Such a big boy!

He's trying all kinds of new foods and snacks. So far, there's not much that he doesn't like. He had a grill cheese for the first time and he loved it!

So, that's a lot of little details that most of you probably don't care about, but we're excited at the Wood house... we love each and every little milestone!
