Four Months Old!

Again, I begin a blog with... I can't believe how fast time flies! Our little monkey is four months old today!

We went for a checkup and the doc says Walker is coming along "perfectly". He weighs 13 pounds, 11 ounces now. That's the 25th percentile. He is 25 inches long which is the 50th percentile. And, again, he did incredible with the second round of shots! He got real red and cried for about 30 seconds, then he was fine! We really have a tough baby.

We continue to have milestone after milestone... Walker is starting to actually play with toys now. He likes reaching for things on his activity gym and today he is having a blast in his exersaucer!

People have continued to tell me that babies only get more fun as they grow... it's so true. I can't imagine how each day gets better, but it really does. Every day brings more smiles and more laughs. There's nothing better than that!

I'll tell you what's also fun... getting to hang out with friends! Today Walker got to hang out with the boys! We had lunch with Susie and Cole and Jace.

We got to talk about all the times we had lunch... just the two of us. The last time we were together, we were both pregnant. Then we had babies six weeks apart and look at us now!

It's lunch for FIVE!

Two Years of Marriage!

If you are a regular reader of Wood Words, I bet we were hanging out with you two years ago tonight! Yep, today is our two year anniversary.

It has been an amazing two years! With lots of happenings! Clark and I went to dinner last night to celebrate and our conversation sounded a lot like this... "wow, our lives are very different... I can't believe how fast things change.", etc.

We both agree... our lives get more full and more wonderful by the day.

I used to think May 26, 2007 would ALWAYS be the happiest day of my life. It became the second happiest day of my life on January 27, 2009. I asked Clark if that was a bad thing and he said, "No, not at all... you got pushed down to second behind Walker, too." At least we are in agreement!

So, yes, Walker coming into our lives makes everything else seem less important, but we can still look back on that amazing day and remember the fun times. It really was an awesome day. It poured down rain and the meal and the cake weren't exactly as they should have been, but I wouldn't have changed a thing. I had so much fun with all our family and friends.

And, the best part... I got to marry the man of my dreams!

Walker's First Swim

It's a holiday and it's sunny... time for Walker's first swim!

Here's the funny part... Clark and I were much more excited that Walker. He was totally underwhelmed. He was looking at us like, "what's the big deal?"!

The good news, he didn't hate it at all. I think he was just waiting on me to lather up his hair! But, I bet it won't take long for him to realize that the pool is different, and a lot more fun, than a bath!

The First Wood Family Vacation

How fun! The Wood family just got back from the Texas Hill Country! Walker was an amazing little traveler and seemed to have a blast. He got to stay in a hotel for the first time, meet new people and see new places!

Guess what the top priority was...

Yep, Clark wanted to show Walker the UT tower.

I love this picture... I can just hear Clark saying, "Walker this is where you will go in 18 years."

Now I've got to hurry and take Walker to Fort Worth so I can show him TCU!

After the campus tour we took Walker to the Oasis... he didn't love it. He got a little too hot, so we didn't stay long, but got to enjoy a little of the sunset and lake views.

The next day we hit Lampasas and Walker got to meet Aunt Connie and his great grandmother, Memaw.

After that, it was back to Austin to spend some time with Frosty and Linda. He loved their backyard and it didn't take long for Frosty to start teaching him things... lesson number one, how to make a fist. Frosty doesn't want him making a fist like a "girl"!

Then it was off to Fredricksburg! Walker was a fantastic little shopper and we had a great few hours there.

Our little monkey had to spend many, many hours in that car seat, but he was so good! Very few fits and lots of smiles and laughs. That's a great combination! I can't wait to plan our next trip!

Save the Date -- Spring Wedding 2035

My baby boy is ahead of the curve. He's rolling over, laughing and dating!
Yep, you read that right. He's not even quite four months old, but Walker went on his first date this week.

He picked a younger woman. Marin Elise... only two weeks old!

Check it out:

Okay, maybe Walker and Marin weren't so "into" each other, but you can tell, he's checking her out! I can't wait to watch these two grow up and play together!

Aside from the date, we had lots of fun with Robin and Jason. It was funny because here we were, a couple of first time parents. They were amazed at how big Walker has gotten and we were amazed at how little Marin is... they were the exact same size when they were born, so it was really easy to see how fast they grow!!!! He looks like a giant next to her!

So, we'll see in 25 or 30 years if we get to pull out this picture for the wedding video!

The Silver, The Blue

Have you ever hung out with friends and had so much fun doing nothing?!?! I got to do that this weekend.

I went up to Grapevine to hang out with my ZTA friends. We met almost 14 years ago... we had four years of hanging out at the sorority house, going to parties, laughing, and really getting to know each other. Somewhere in the middle of all that, we managed to study, get decent enough grades, and graduate together. That happened 10 years ago this weekend.

Here's the deal... we had many, many great times together at TCU. But, what's so wonderful, we continue to have great times. We always promised each other that we would stay close and stay in touch, but how many times do you say that and then not follow through? It's natural, we get busy and we lose touch. Not this group. We have a weekend once a year and we all do our best to be there. And, when we get there, we have fun!

We sat in Tracy's kitchen yesterday for about eight hours. Talking about old times, catching each other up on current times and LAUGHING. I love that kind of laugh, where you can't stop, you end up with tears in your eyes and your stomach is hurting. That's a good laugh. And, it means so much to realize you're having that really good laugh with amazing friends.

There was a lot of "I don't really remember that" and "what was that guy's name", which led to more laughter. And, then the laughs kept coming when Tracy busted out her old pictures. Let me just say this... we really thought we were cute at the time, but some of our clothes were a little scary. All of us had velour shirts on in at least one picture. I guess they were "in".

Here's the other fun part, we were able to talk about all the old times and realize that those experiences made us the women we are today. We got to talk about ex-boyfriends and be thankful that those aren't the men we ended up with. We got to talk about each other's best qualities and be thankful that we learn something from everyone in the group. And, we got to talk about all the fun times we will continue to have in the future.

So, I don't mean to be too cheesy, but I must quote an old Zeta song, "The silver, the blue... a zeta sister true."

They are the best friends a girl could have and I am so thankful that every one of them is in my life! I'm already looking forward to next year.

I Don't Think There is Anything Cuter!

Walker and I had one of those moments this evening. We were sitting here waiting for Daddy to come home and Walker decided to BUST OUT LAUGHING!

This isn't the first time that Walker has laughed, but this is the first time that he did it really loud and continuously.

It was so precious!

But, I was so sad that I was alone with him! I said, "where's your Daddy!" and, not two minutes later Clark walked in the door. I yelled for him to grab the camera, and tried to make Walker recreate the moment. While it isn't quite the belly laugh I got earlier, we did get the laugh on video!

There's nothing cuter!!!

We are preparing for an interesting weekend. I'm leaving at 8am in the morning to go to the Dallas area to hang out with all my sweet college friends for the night. Daddy and Walker get to have "guys time" together. I know they will have as much fun as I will!

Maybe I can talk Clark into blogging about the experience!

Bumbo!

Walker continues to try new things and he is loving it! We've tried the Bumbo a few times in recent weeks, and he wasn't quite ready.

But, now he is!!!

He really likes sitting up like a big boy! The bumbo seat is a perfect place for him to sit and watch his new Baby Einstein videos. He is mesmerized by those things.

All of these "milestones" make us realize that Walker isn't a little bitty newborn anymore! He's becoming more of big boy everyday!

How Did THIS Happen?

I decided today would be a good day to go through all of Walker's clothes. You see, we have very generous family and friends and Walker ended up with so many clothes!

But, he is growing so fast that's he's growing out of things so quickly!

So, check this out... things that don't fit anymore!!!

Seriously, how did this happen? I remember opening up 3-6 month gifts thinking it would be FOREVER before Walker would actually wear them! But, oh no... it took no time at all. I have to say, it's kind of sad! This stuff is so cute, I wish we had more time to enjoy all of it!

I will say this, when you have a baby, life is never dull. Even going through clothes is exciting!

Here's a Reason to NOT Water the Flowers!

Okay, I'm freaking out... I had quite an interesting evening!

Now that I've peeked your interest, let me tell you what happened.

Clark and I planted some beautiful flowers in the backyard over the weekend. It really looks great. To make sure that it continues to look great, we need to water our pretty blooms.

So, Clark got home and we took Walker and went outside. Clark was getting his Walker fix while I watered the flowers. So, I finish watering and I walk over to turn off the water and roll up the hose (we have one that you wind up on the wall).
As I am winding up, all of a sudden something jumps at me. I assume is a silly lizard. We have geckos all over the place (it constantly reminds me of all the geicho commercials, but that's another story). BUT, OH NO... it was not a lizard, IT WAS A SNAKE!

Oh my gosh, a snake was all coiled up where the hose should be. Needless to say, I ran very fast over to Clark... freaking out all the way.

And, as every husband should be... Clark is my hero! He was able to coax the nasty thing out and he killed it with a hoe. His new nickname.. Crocodile Hunter! (Steve Irwin, rest in peace, that name is just too fitting for this situation)

So, we do have a couple of pictures of this crazy snake. And, I should let you know, it really doesn't look very scary because it really was pretty small (still freaks me out).

He is alive in the first one... climbing up the wall.

NOT alive in the second.

OK, so yes it is small, but I have many, many questions. Is it small because it's a baby? If it is a baby, is his mother around? Was it full grown and I really shouldn't panic at all? Is it poisonous???

I've looked on the internet to try to figure out what kind of snake this is and I'm hoping it's just a rat snake. But, if anyone knows what it is, please let me know.
Frosty, I'm counting on you to tell me!

I knew I didn't like snakes, but now I HATE snakes! Just thinking about it gives me the shivers! And, I guarantee that I will dream about snakes tonight. GROSS!

Poor flowers, they need to hope for rain, because I may never water again.
