Horned Frog Fever

First, I apologize for my lack of blogging. Clark was sick, then Walker was sick and I was sick somewhere in the middle. Having a sick house doesn't leave much time for blogging! But, we are on the mend, so I'm back!

And, I have a lot to say.

It's about my Frogs. Yes, my mighty Horned Frogs. Number FOUR in the nation. I could use all kinds of adjectives for this... amazing, unbelievable, shocking and most of all... exciting.

I know I've told this story before, but it's worth mentioning again. When I was at TCU, nobody cared about the football team. The stands were empty. Sure, some of the frats would have a tailgate or two, but nobody went to the game. My junior year, we went 1-10 and tore down the goal posts after beating SMU the last game of the season. Embarrassing. But, my senior year, things changed. We had a winning record and beat Carson Palmer and the mighty USC Trojans in the Sun Bowl. That was a huge turning point. Since that 1998 season, we have been to a bowl game every season but one. Gary Patterson took over in 2000 and his record is 72-27. Amazing.

But, even with all the wins and bowl games, if you had told me we would be #4, undefeated and GameDay was going to be at TCU game for the second time in one season I would have told you that you were crazy!

Now, here is where I have to keep my emotions in check. All season we've been ranked in the top 12 and I've had my hopes up for a good BCS game. Seriously, that's all I need. BUT, now that we are #4, there is all kinds of "possible BCS buster for the national championship" talk. Honestly, I don't want to listen to the talk, because I might get my hopes up.

Seriously, possibly play for a national championship??? I know, a LOT of things would have to happen for that to actually occur. Starting with us winning all our games!

The thing that is weird in this scenario... Texas is #3. The old Deana would be rooting for a quick and decisive Longhorn loss. But, Clark has brought me around to the dark side, so I guess I'm rooting for Florida and Alabama losses. Then we would have a really interesting situation. Texas #1 and TCU #2. Whoa. Since I'm the one to dress Walker, I'm pretty sure he would be wearing purple that day!

Again, I'm ahead of myself. We have to get through Utah on Saturday. What a great day. GameDay is in Fort Worth from 9am-11am. The Longhorns play Baylor at 11am. Then TCU takes on Utah at 6:30. Plenty of time for wardrobe changes!

From Horned Frog to Frog Prince

Wow, Halloween was a fun-filled day for the Woods. We went to Fort Worth so I could celebrate TCU's fabulous football team and my 10-year reunion. And, as always, Walker was incredible. In the car for more than 3 hours, off to a tailgate, then the game in the bright sun, then a quick change so he could hit the streets for his first try at Trick or Treating! No nap and get this... no fussing!

So, we have to share some highlights.

Seriously, I can't believe we graduated 10 years ago... that means I've known these pledge sisters for 14 years! Wow.

I personally think Walker looks great in his TCU gear... if he would only leave that adorable hat on!

One of my favorite family pics!

And, here's a pic I will always love... look, he really watched!!!!

Okay, I thought there was nothing cuter than my sweet boy dressed up in his best Horned Frog attire. I was wrong. He's even cuter as a frog prince!

Every time I tried to put this frog head on Walker he ripped it off two seconds later, so I didn't have high hopes for Halloween night. But, again, my little man pulled through and showed how tough he is! He left that frog head on all night!

Alex and Nola showed him the ropes....

Walker had a lot of success on his first night of trick or treating... but, Daddy did the walking.

Whew! What a day.

Have You Seen the BCS Rankings?!?!?

Um, yes... That is TCU at number 6! Wow. Seriously exciting stuff for this Horned Frog.

It's funny to talk to Clark about his kind of thing. As a Longhorn, he's used to being in the top ten (or top five and even number one). Well, I'm not used to it. I truly can't believe it.

7-0
GameDay at a TCU game
Corso puts on the Horned Frog head (Clark thinks it looked a little like an alien)

I've never experienced such a fun football season for my Frogs! AND, we get to be there live on Saturday! We're taking Walker to his first football game. I'm stunned that Clark is letting TCU be the first game... but, I was sneaky and told Clark that we have to go to my 10-year reunion!

Fingers crossed the Frogs can keep it up, go undefeated and make it to a BCS bowl. I will be first in line to buy my tickets!

(oh, I am also rooting for Texas to go undefeated and make it to the National Championship... seriously, our house would be on cloud nine if these two things actually happen!)

Man About Dallas

Walker had quite an exciting weekend! We left Daddy home to work and we went off to Dallas for a plethora (Ray and I both love this word) of events.

First, we met up with Bunny and RayRay to go to Walker's great aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary party. He was a hit! Everyone thought he was really cute.

Second, we went to the Botanic Gardens in Fort Worth to see painters in the garden. Maren is in charge of this really cool event. While we were there, a cowboy scared Walker:

And, right after we took this picture:

Mommy sat Walker in a big ant bed!!!! Please don't call CPS. I didn't realize it was an ant bed, but Bunny saw it about a half a second later and we were able to strip Walker and get all the ants off. Whew. And, Walker is such a trooper, he hardly reacted to the whole thing. Tough kid!

Third, we got in the car and headed across the metroplex to Irving (Walker got a really good nap) to my friend Nea's baby shower. I've know Nea since kindergarten. She's expecting baby Jacey in December!

So, if Walker was "cute" at the anniversary party then he was PRECIOUS at the baby shower. I guess he knew he was the only boy in the room, because he was flirting like crazy. He smiled and laughed and was the center of attention for a bit.

I love this picture:

This is Nea and her twin Izzy and my friend Jennifer. Check out Walker's smile!

It was great to catch up with old friends. We've all known each other our whole lives. We may go years and years without talking, but it's always great to catch up!

After the shower we got in the car to head south to get back to Daddy. It was a great weekend!

Is the Pumpkin Patch Supposed to be Fun?

Last Friday Nanna and Bubba came to town to go with us to the pumpkin patch at our church. I had high hopes of getting some great fall photos of Walker.

Instead, I got this:

Aww... my poor baby was not in the mood for pumpkins!!! But, we fought through and got a couple of good pictures.

Here's Walker with Nanna and Bubba:

And, he cracked one little smile:

The good news... we still have a couple of weeks until Halloween. Maybe we can try again.

Fighting Sleep

Walker cracks me up. His newest trick is going from his tummy to sitting up. He is so proud of himself every single time he does it!

This new trick comes in handy in his crib. Now when he wakes up, he sits up and plays. I love it. But, it isn't so handy when he doesn't want to take a nap.

Today, he fought the nap... he sat up, tried to play, but he finally gave up. I thought this was too cute and I had to share!

Our Little Heartbreaker

Walker and I are a part of playgroup that meets each week. It's only three babies, but we always look forward to seeing Audrey and Lily and their mommies.

It continues to get more interesting, because our sweet babes are getting more fun... scooting, crawling, just being more mobile.

Well, this week got interesting because Audrey seemed to be very interested in Walker. I mean, you can't call it anything BUT flirting! I love that I caught it on video.

I only wish he had been wearing his "Lock up Your Daughters" shirt!

On a side note... this is my 100th post!! And, it was almost on my one year anniversary... my first blog was October 2nd, last year. Honestly, it is so bizarre to think back and realize that Walker wasn't even around when I started this thing! We still had four months to wait for his arrival.

I really enjoy using this forum as a way to get my creative juices flowing and as a way for people to stay updated on Walker. For those of you that read the blog on a regular basis... THANK YOU! I love that you are interested in WoodWords!
