We had one of those "we have nothing to do and nowhere to be" weekends. Sometimes those are full of boredom and "what should we be doing" thoughts. Not this one. It was such a blast.
Clark got home from the out of town board meeting early Friday afternoon. Which meant pool time and going out for mexican food. There was one hiccup… after dinner, Walker's leg fell through this silly wagon they wanted to sit on. Yes, there's a big sign on the side of this wagon "We are not responsible for accidents". Thanks for that. He was brave and when we got him home I used some antiseptic (Frosty, you would have been really proud!) and got him patched up. Interestingly enough, when he cried, Everly cried, too. Not sure if she was being sympathetic to her brother, or if she was afraid mommy was going to put something on her that burned. I choose to think she's a sweet sister!
Then on Saturday, the kids got haircuts and we were off to a neighbors' house for some fun in the sun. A few couples, lots of kids and tons of fun.
Big boy jumping off the rocks!
I know I've talked about it all summer, but our kids aren't babies anymore. And, we can really tell that in the pool. The lessons they've been taking and the hours in the pool have really paid off. They are light years ahead of where they were…. even since the beginning of the summer. It is so fun to see.
And, today…. seriously, I almost posted on Facebook several times about how great our day was. But, I didn't, because I didn't want to come off annoying. (you know, there's something called Facebook depression or something. Where people only post the good stuff going on and it makes it look like you have a perfect life and others are sad about their own crummy life.) BUT, the loyal WoodWords readers want to hear about our fantastic day, right?
It started a church. Always a good place to start! There was great music (including more than one old school hymn. "I Surrender All" at the invitation! Took me straight back to the pews of FBC GP! Love it.) and a fantastic sermon by Pastor Larry. Okay, and, I'm gonna say it. The church ordained some new deacons today, so there were a lot of men in suits. WOW! I know I'm old school, but I enjoy seeing people dressed for church. I could go on, but I'll leave it at that. Plus, it was Walker's last Sunday in the preschool area. Next week he will be a kindergartner at Crossroads. He's pretty darn excited about it, too.

After church, we had lunch and ran to Target. You see, the pool we were at yesterday had lots of masks, snorkels and flippers. Walker and Everly LOVED them. So, we had to buy some. Worth every penny, because we spent hours in the pool today. Swimming, snorkeling, jumping, diving for toys, you name it. I kept saying to Clark, "isn't this just the best?" and "THIS is why we always knew we wanted a pool!" There's nothing better than hearing, "Daddy, I'm going to jump in to you!" and "Mommy, can I jump off your shoulders again?". What a day.
I'm including this because it's too funny! (she's fine and overly dramatic!)
And, here are a couple more fun pictures from our "down time" aka so tired from all the swimming:
I'm so very blessed by my amazing family! I couldn't love them anymore if I tried!
