So Many Friends, So Little Time

Walker has been quite the social butterfly.

On Saturday, he invited Marin and Isabel over for dinner.







On Sunday, he went to the park with his friend Hudson.



And, today, he hung out with his playgroup girlfriends. I think it's getting serious with Audrey.

Happy Earth Day... Huh?

I have never used this blog for political purposes. In fact, I've tried to leave all political discussions up to my husband.

But, today I have to get something off my chest. When you have kids, you look at things differently. You pay attention to things that you never would have noticed and you are exposed to a whole new world.

So, let me describe my problem. Walker likes several shows on Nick Jr. I don't have a problem with the shows... they are all very cute and hopefully educational. But, I noticed this week that they are promoting Earth Day like crazy. I guess all the shows today have a "saving the planet" theme. Is there a problem with talking about recycling or saving the planet... no. But, what bothers me is that they promote Earth Day like crazy, yet never mention Easter or Christmas.

I just hate all the "political correctness". Seriously, it's a Holiday tree now, instead of a Christmas tree. And, I hear that kids have to dye Spring Eggs instead of Easter Eggs. My point... if I left it up to Nick Jr. then Walker would know EVERYTHING about Earth Day and NOTHING about the holidays that matter. Of course, I'm not leaving it up to Nick Jr. Clark and I will be teaching Walker the importance of Jesus Christ and the meanings of Christmas and Easter.

I just wish it wasn't so "politically incorrect" to do so.

Cozette (1997-2010)

Today is a sad day for our family. My mom and Ray's dog, Cozette, had to go to Poodle Heaven.

Here she is sunbathing in our pool last summer. Clark and I were amazed that she just jumped on the float and laid down.



Almost 13 years ago, I was with my mom when we found Cozie. She was the most adorable little black ball of fur. She grew up to be a very playful and faithful companion.

Walker LOVED Cozie. He found her hilarious and she was always so good to let him love on her.

And, Remy, in her usual Remy-way, acted like she didn't like Cozie, but they really loved each other. She won't know what to do when she shows up at Bunny and RayRay's and Cozie's not there!

She will be missed by us all!

Why Not Me?

I get in trouble when I go more than a week without a blog! So, here I am... back to business.

I was sick last week, so that's my excuse. That, plus nothing major is going on. Clark is busy with quarter close at work and Walker is busy growing! He has been eating and sleeping a lot, which means it will be interesting to see his 15-month stats next week. I will report back.

Now on to some whining. I really want an IPhone. Most of my friends have them. My mother has one, my father-in-law has one and now my HUSBAND has one! Ugh.

And here's the kicker... Clark really doesn't care about it that much. I've been playing with it all evening... he's barely touched it. I'm asking him about apps, ring tones, email, etc and he literally doesn't care. Walker threw his old phone in the pool and that's the only reason he got a new one. It wasn't because he really wanted a new phone.

So, here's the deal with me... I have to wait two months. I will be eligible for the "upgrade" or whatever they call it these days on June 20th. It will save us several hundred dollars if we wait.

So, here I am.... waiting.

Easter Boy

Walker loves Easter!

He had a fantastic weekend spending time with Bunny and RayRay and all his cousins.

He got to hunt in two egg hunts, ride a pony, go to a petting zoo and walk/crawl/knee walk all over Bunny and RayRay's backyard, go to church and go to brunch! Whew!

He's a busy boy and that makes for busy parents! Mommy and Daddy now regularly talk about how worn out we are at the end of the day!

Easter Time!

I intended to post this over the weekend, but the unexpected trip to the ER got me sidetracked!

Last Friday, Bunny and I took Walker to his first Easter Egg Hunt at our church!

So, he doesn't really understand the "hunting" concept, but he did like holding eggs in his hands! That's a start.



The hunt only lasted a few minutes, but it was still a fun way to spend the beautiful spring day!



Here's a quick illness update. Walker is fine. He's been a little fussy this week and not totally up to par, but overall he's much better!

And, a quick pregnancy update... basically, pregnancy is totally predictable. I'm getting bigger by the day and the second trimester burst of energy is officially over. Glad I got a lot done over the last few months... because being productive seems out of the question now!

First ER Visit

Ugh... we had to take Walker to the ER this weekend. I feel pretty good that he's 14-months old and this was the first time, but I could have done without it!

Long story short... Walker has croup! He was perfectly fine ALL day Saturday, then right before bed he start wheezing, coughing and it seemed that he was having trouble breathing. So, we went to the ER... he had a breathing treatment, a steroid shot and some x-rays and then they sent us on our way. He slept all night and has felt much better today.

Why does this stuff only happen when the pediatrician is closed?!?!

Bottom line, we probably didn't need to make the trip to the ER, but I'm so glad we did. Having the doctor explain what was going on made us feel much better.

We'll go see his doctor tomorrow to follow up... Hopefully the end of the croup is near!
