Here's a Reason to NOT Water the Flowers!

Okay, I'm freaking out... I had quite an interesting evening!

Now that I've peeked your interest, let me tell you what happened.

Clark and I planted some beautiful flowers in the backyard over the weekend. It really looks great. To make sure that it continues to look great, we need to water our pretty blooms.

So, Clark got home and we took Walker and went outside. Clark was getting his Walker fix while I watered the flowers. So, I finish watering and I walk over to turn off the water and roll up the hose (we have one that you wind up on the wall).
As I am winding up, all of a sudden something jumps at me. I assume is a silly lizard. We have geckos all over the place (it constantly reminds me of all the geicho commercials, but that's another story). BUT, OH NO... it was not a lizard, IT WAS A SNAKE!

Oh my gosh, a snake was all coiled up where the hose should be. Needless to say, I ran very fast over to Clark... freaking out all the way.

And, as every husband should be... Clark is my hero! He was able to coax the nasty thing out and he killed it with a hoe. His new nickname.. Crocodile Hunter! (Steve Irwin, rest in peace, that name is just too fitting for this situation)

So, we do have a couple of pictures of this crazy snake. And, I should let you know, it really doesn't look very scary because it really was pretty small (still freaks me out).

He is alive in the first one... climbing up the wall.

NOT alive in the second.

OK, so yes it is small, but I have many, many questions. Is it small because it's a baby? If it is a baby, is his mother around? Was it full grown and I really shouldn't panic at all? Is it poisonous???

I've looked on the internet to try to figure out what kind of snake this is and I'm hoping it's just a rat snake. But, if anyone knows what it is, please let me know.
Frosty, I'm counting on you to tell me!

I knew I didn't like snakes, but now I HATE snakes! Just thinking about it gives me the shivers! And, I guarantee that I will dream about snakes tonight. GROSS!

Poor flowers, they need to hope for rain, because I may never water again.

It is a juvenile texas rat snake or "chicken snake". They nonvenomous, but are the largest snake found in Harris County. They can reach lengths over 8 feet! They will coil and strike when cornered. They primarily eat rodents, small birds, etc.
