I went up to Grapevine to hang out with my ZTA friends. We met almost 14 years ago... we had four years of hanging out at the sorority house, going to parties, laughing, and really getting to know each other. Somewhere in the middle of all that, we managed to study, get decent enough grades, and graduate together. That happened 10 years ago this weekend.
Here's the deal... we had many, many great times together at TCU. But, what's so wonderful, we continue to have great times. We always promised each other that we would stay close and stay in touch, but how many times do you say that and then not follow through? It's natural, we get busy and we lose touch. Not this group. We have a weekend once a year and we all do our best to be there. And, when we get there, we have fun!
We sat in Tracy's kitchen yesterday for about eight hours. Talking about old times, catching each other up on current times and LAUGHING. I love that kind of laugh, where you can't stop, you end up with tears in your eyes and your stomach is hurting. That's a good laugh. And, it means so much to realize you're having that really good laugh with amazing friends.
There was a lot of "I don't really remember that" and "what was that guy's name", which led to more laughter. And, then the laughs kept coming when Tracy busted out her old pictures. Let me just say this... we really thought we were cute at the time, but some of our clothes were a little scary. All of us had velour shirts on in at least one picture. I guess they were "in".
Here's the other fun part, we were able to talk about all the old times and realize that those experiences made us the women we are today. We got to talk about ex-boyfriends and be thankful that those aren't the men we ended up with. We got to talk about each other's best qualities and be thankful that we learn something from everyone in the group. And, we got to talk about all the fun times we will continue to have in the future.
So, I don't mean to be too cheesy, but I must quote an old Zeta song, "The silver, the blue... a zeta sister true."
They are the best friends a girl could have and I am so thankful that every one of them is in my life! I'm already looking forward to next year.
