It's the Little Things

Walker has more toys than he needs... baseballs, bats, trains, blocks, tables, chairs, books, puzzles... you get my drift. But, what brings him more joy and entertainment than anything else...

Oh, yes.. those are his flip flops. He LOVES them. He and Clark were up before me this morning, and when I made it to the living room Walker had his flip flops on with his PJs. If only I had that picture! Seriously, he wants his flip flops on at all times. Such a funny kid.

Here are some new pictures of Everly... it's amazing how fast she is growing.

I can't believe how strong she is... check out that head control! Go Everly!

This could be a whole other blog topic, but I just want to mention it... Clark and I went CHRISTMAS shopping today! There's a Toys R Us near us that's closing, so everything in the store is on sale. It was so much fun buying Walker and Everly's presents! The bad part... having to wait FOUR long months to see them open their gifts!

Everly's Sip & See

Bunny was sweet enough to throw Everly a little Sip & See over the weekend. Our little darling did a great job being the center of attention!

A lot of wonderful people drove a lot of miles to see my sweet girl and we all feel so blessed! And, Everly loved being passed around to all the sweet ladies!

Everly loves her two grandmothers... Nanna and Bunny!

So, here's the bad news... I have a serious memory problem. I meant to take pictures of the lovely setup that my mom and Debra prepared. Everything looked so pretty, but silly me... no pictures. Just trust me.. it looked great! Thanks Bunny and Debra!

Girl Time

If you read this blog on a regular basis, you know I have a fantastic group of girlfriends from college. Amazingly, we've been able to stay great friends even though we don't still live in the Zeta house. Miles between us haven't kept us apart!

I had such a fun week... Tracy came over and brought Connor... you saw his first date with Everly. But, it wasn't totally about the kids... it was about getting to catch up with a good friend... in person!

Then, the very next day Maren came to Conroe with her family. It was so great! The best part... the kids went to bed, then a little while later, the husbands went to bed. That left me and Maren all alone to chat the night away. What's so funny about this is Maren isn't what you would call a night owl. In fact, when it hit midnight and she was still wide awake we were both shocked. Imagine what we thought when we looked up and it was 2 am!

The point of this post... having good girlfriends. Maren and I spent time talking about the "old days". We laughed a lot and said "wait, I don't remember that" and "what year did that happen" a lot. We also realized that we made a bunch of stupid decisions, but those decisions helped us get to where we are now.

After she left on Saturday I realized how important it is to continue to have these friendships. I met all my pledge sisters 15 years ago. We spent four years in college and then went out into the real world... found husbands, found children and found ourselves. We are very different girls now, but it is so fun to have someone to reminisce with and look back at the journey.

But, what it also fun... talking about what is going on now and what will happen in the future. It makes me chuckle to think our old conversations were about gossip and boys. Our current conversations are about faith, the future and the well-being of our kids. Times have changed!

We are lucky to have each other!

Put Your Head on My Shoulder

I thought we could wait 15... 18... oh, who are we kidding, 30 years for this! Everly has officially had her first date.

Tracy came over and brought Connor, who is about two months older than Everly. It was so fun to meet him and for Tracy to get to meet Everly.

But, back to the date. It started off a little slow:

But, then they got to know each other a little better. The moms helped:

And, once they got the mamas out of the way:

They look pretty cozy, don't they?!

Smiling Everly

Okay, the picture is not going to do it justice, but our little girl is officially smiling!

It's hard to catch on camera, but I know we will have many more pictures of smiling Everly to come!

Here's another precious picture of the darling girl. Who would have thought that brown-eyed me and green-eyed Clark would have a blue-eyed girl?!?!?

Frosty and Linda came to visit this weekend. But, silly me... I didn't take a single picture! Ugh. But, Everly was thrilled to meet them and Walker had a blast playing ball with Frosty.

And, because I can't post just two pictures... here are a couple more of big brother Walker:

He enjoys laying down with Everly when she's doing her tummy time. Such a tender little boy!

We took professional pictures of Everly this week... I'll be able to post a bunch of them soon!

One Little Victory at a Time

Everly is six weeks old today. I can't believe it. It seems crazy that she's already six weeks, but at the same time, I can't remember life without her!

We are in a really good routine and Clark and I have gotten used to having two babies! Each and every day we accomplish what I call a little victory. Here's a list of "little victories" under my belt:

-taking both kids to Sam's (all by myself)

-getting both kids ready, out the door and on time for church

-napping at the same time! (they did this on Sunday and Clark and I got to relax in the pool for two whole hours!)

-meeting friends for lunch (okay, Clark and I have taken them out to eat several times. This is easy with both of us... one parent for each child. But, yesterday I took both of them to meet Susie and her twin boys... don't you know the restaurant was thrilled to see us coming. Three 18 month old boys and a new baby!!!)

There are lots more, but that's just a little sample. I like being able to try new things with the kids and then feel the sense of accomplishment when it's successful!

Since I haven't blogged in a week I'll add a few new pictures.

Walker has been eating with a fork for several weeks now:

The little beauty on her quilt (my friend Jessica made this for her!):

Since I got the new IPhone, Walker got my old blackberry. Clark says he got this from me... not him:
