Girl Time

If you read this blog on a regular basis, you know I have a fantastic group of girlfriends from college. Amazingly, we've been able to stay great friends even though we don't still live in the Zeta house. Miles between us haven't kept us apart!

I had such a fun week... Tracy came over and brought Connor... you saw his first date with Everly. But, it wasn't totally about the kids... it was about getting to catch up with a good friend... in person!

Then, the very next day Maren came to Conroe with her family. It was so great! The best part... the kids went to bed, then a little while later, the husbands went to bed. That left me and Maren all alone to chat the night away. What's so funny about this is Maren isn't what you would call a night owl. In fact, when it hit midnight and she was still wide awake we were both shocked. Imagine what we thought when we looked up and it was 2 am!

The point of this post... having good girlfriends. Maren and I spent time talking about the "old days". We laughed a lot and said "wait, I don't remember that" and "what year did that happen" a lot. We also realized that we made a bunch of stupid decisions, but those decisions helped us get to where we are now.

After she left on Saturday I realized how important it is to continue to have these friendships. I met all my pledge sisters 15 years ago. We spent four years in college and then went out into the real world... found husbands, found children and found ourselves. We are very different girls now, but it is so fun to have someone to reminisce with and look back at the journey.

But, what it also fun... talking about what is going on now and what will happen in the future. It makes me chuckle to think our old conversations were about gossip and boys. Our current conversations are about faith, the future and the well-being of our kids. Times have changed!

We are lucky to have each other!
