Wild Kingdom

This is a post about a couple of topics. First, I want to give a sciatica update. Here's the update... it's no fun. I'm still in pain and our darling baby girl seems to have camped out on the nerve and doesn't want to move!

That being said... I need to give a big thanks to Nanna! Clark was in Canada for work earlier this week so his mom came to help out and play with Walker. He had a blast with her! All the help has been really great! It's so nice to have family close by.

Next topic.... Snakes. Yep, I said it. SNAKE! A snake... at our house... AGAIN. And, this one was big. Ugh. First off... Frosty, I know you say we shouldn't kill rat snakes (assuming this was a rat snake), but we had to... it was too big and too close to the house for us!

Here's the story... I walked (really, I hobbled) by our front door and glanced out and saw the massive thing slithering across the sidewalk... right at the porch! eek. (you don't get to use the word "slithering" very often, I hope I don't use again anytime soon)

Here's it is in the flower bed. (I took this picture from inside!)

So, my crocodile hunter husband grabbed the hoe and went outside for the killing. Seriously, the thing was so long and so gross!

I'm so glad Clark is a good man that will go take care of these things! Here are a couple more photos of the aftermath. If anyone thinks this is something other than a rat snake, let us know!

And, to continue with the Wild Kingdom theme... our neighbors came out to check out the snake and told us about a "predator" animal in the neighborhood! I guess something like a cougar took down a huge deer earlier this week... and it happened right down the road. Seriously, this is what happens when you live near the woods! Yikes.
