I can't believe it, but December 15th is here. Today is the third anniversary of the big blind date! Three years ago tonight Clark and I decided to step out of our comfort zones and actually meet up at PF Changs for an actual blind date. (who even goes on blind dates anymore?!?!)
I remember feeling nervous and anxious, but also excited. I'm usually a very prompt person, but I remember being late on purpose, so I wouldn't be the one sitting there waiting! Honestly, it was a great date... we had a lot to say to each other and got along right away. I do remember one topic of conversation... I wanted to impress Clark with my football knowledge, but it turned kind of sour when I realized that he was a Longhorn. I seriously thought, "why does he have to be a UT guy?". I would have thought that at anytime of year, but especially since we knew Texas was going to the National Championship... I made sure he knew I would be cheering for USC in that game. Can you believe it, even after I said that, he kissed me at the end of the evening and sent me a text message the next day that he was looking forward to seeing me again!
I'm very thankful to Diana for realizing that we would be good together.
It's been an amazing three years. We've been on wonderful trips... Bermuda, Paris, all over the Mediterranean. We've enjoyed an engagement and a beautiful wedding. We've sold two houses and bought a house together. We've celebrated a huge promotion for Clark. We've been to many college football games and watched even more snuggled up on the couch. We've had thousands of conversations about politics, movies and why we both hate the BCS. We've enjoyed fun holidays with both families and birthdays with each other. And, of course, we're counting down the days until we welcome our baby boy into the world.
When I think about all that we've done, I can't believe we've only been together for three years. I don't really remember what it felt like not having Clark in my life.
So, to anyone out there looking for a soul mate... here's my advice: if someone offers to set you up on a blind date... say YES! It might change your life!
