The Crafty Baker?

I'm not really myself these days.  I've found myself doing things I don't usually do.  It started at MOPs last week.  I actually finished a craft.... 100% by myself.  This is my fifth year of MOPs, and I've never finished a craft.  Well, actually, I've finished a couple, but always with help from my very crafty friends.

Next... I baked with my babes.  What?  I know, crazy.  I've always talked about baking and wanted to bake, but it's never happened.  I'm not sure what got into me, but look!  I have proof!

Yep, those are my sweet little bakers helping their very bad baking mama.

We attempted some homemade chocolate chip cookies and some muffins out of a box.

The muffins out of the box were much better than the cookies!

But, hey, it was our first attempt!  I know we will get better.

Next up... an actual craft.  At home.  Nobody forcing me to do it.  We just decided to try it.  Melted crayons on pumpkins.

Here are the babes taking the paper off the crayons.  (This was their favorite part!)

Mommy glued the crayons on the top of the pumpkins.

Then we used the hair dryer to melt the crayons.

I've got to admit two things.  One, it was messier than I would have thought. (which kind of make me crazy, but I held it together.) And, two, the kids didn't really care about the craft.  Which is why I've never really done stuff in the past!  I've always thought that a lot of moms put too much emphasis on stuff that doesn't matter.   All that being said, they were proud of the final product!

And, I think they look great as fall decor!
