Walker and Everly have great cousins.
Aidan, Kyle and Anna on Clark's side and Savannah, Carson and Ryder on my side. Walker loves it when we get to spend time with any of them.
But, I have to point out that he has a special bond with Carson.
Carson was born blind. She adapts and overcomes amazingly well. You would think one aliment would be enough for her.... but, it isn't. Back in the winter she was diagnosed with diabetes. That led to a smart doctor following up and figuring out that Carson actually has something called Alstrom Syndrome. It is a genetic disease and only 700 people in the world have it. The blindness and diabetes are because of the syndrome and she has problems with other organs, as well. She turns 13 later this month, and there's a very good possibility that she'll be on dialysis soon.
Many, many times I have thanked God that my children are healthy. I truly can't imagine all the worry that my brother and Trisha deal with... I'm sure it all seems impossible at times, but they are so strong. And, truly amazing.
Okay, back to the sweet bond. Carson is visiting Bunny and RayRay this week, so Bunny brought her to see "Walkman" and Everly today. Bunny tells me she had been asking over and over to come see them.
As they walked in the door, Bunny told Walker to show Carson to our playroom. Walker is only two and a half. He doesn't know what blindness is... but, he held her hand and guided her to playroom.
While they were playing and having a blast together, my mom and I talked about whether or not Walker knows she's blind. Obviously, he doesn't because he doesn't know what that means. But, I really believe he senses it. He hands toys to her and is very patient while playing with her. It's really cool to watch.
It's just another example of my baby boy's tender heart.
Whenever Carson gives Walker a hug, she picks him up and swings him back and forth. He LOVES it.
Carson was still here when Walker went down for his nap. But, she wasn't when he woke up. He ran to the window and cried hysterically for 10 minutes. Thank goodness she's coming swimming tomorrow!
Did I mention that it's a sweet bond?
