Protective Puppy

Walker is almost 12 weeks old and our sweet puppy still isn't sure what to make of him. For more than six years Remy was the only "baby" and she isn't coping well with having to share her time.

BUT, I do think she might be coming around.

Most of you have heard the stories of Remy and thunder. It scares her to death. In fact, she once tried to eat an entire door during a storm. She literally shredded the bottom of my bedroom door in Tyler during a storm while I was at work.

Well, she still has those reactions, so she was in quite a state on Friday and Saturday. But something new happened during the storms over the weekend. She was in my lap and Walker was napping in his crib, when a huge clap of thunder shook the house. In the past Remy would just sit there and shake. Not this time, she jumped down and ran into Walker's room. I swear, she was trying to protect him! I thought it was so sweet.

Here's the crazy part... she stayed in there. She was able to situate herself where she could still see me in the living room, but she could also keep a watchful eye on her baby.

So, she might not actually like him, but she does feel the need to protect him. Progress!

Here's a picture of our little princess... have you ever seen a more spoiled dog!?
