I'm a blogger now!

Hello all!
I've decided to step into the next century and actually start a blog. It's a little overwhelming and intimidating, but exciting!

So, now time for questions and concerns.

Questions:

Why blog?
As most of you know, Clark and I are expecting a little boy in January, so a blog is a great way for family and friends to keep up with our new addition. And, it's a great way for us to chronicle what happens when he gets here!

So, why now, isn't it a little early?
Yes, we still have almost four months until the little dear gets here, but I'm thinking if I don't get this thing going now, I never will. Plus, I'm sure you are all dying to know how our preparations are going. Just kidding, watching paint dry would probably be more exciting, but I figure, we are going to paint the little man room, so why not blog about it.

What's the blog inspiration?
I have to mention my sweet friend Nicole. She has a blog that makes me laugh out loud. I wish I could be as clever and witty as she is, but there's no way. Today she blogged about leggings. Literally, it was all about leggings and I loved it. But, seriously, the reason I love it... I don't see or talk to Nicole very often (she lives in a very far away place called Denver), but I read her blog and it's a little glimpse into what's going on in her world. If WoodWords helps us stay connected to more family and friends then it will be a success.

Concerns:

Is there spellcheck?
It's kind of scary to put yourself out there in this forum, so, I'm concerned, will people notice if I misspell a word? The good news, YES... there is spellcheck, so I feel a little better.

Weren't you a journalist?
Yes, this is another concern. Since I used to be in the news business I'm afraid people will check my grammar and possibly think I'm a bad writer. But, here's the big disclaimer: Yes, I did write for the news, but it was television news. Conversation style, not formal. So, that's what I bring to the table, a casual conversation!

Are there enough topics?
More importantly, are there enough topics of interest?! I'm out on a limb here... I'm not positive that there are enough interesting things for our family to blog about, but I'm gonna try. Like I said, I laughed out loud at a blog about leggings. Now, that was coming from a very funny girl, which I don't claim to be... but, hopefully we can come up with enough to keep it interesting.

So, with the questions and concerns out of the way, let the blogging begin. Hopefully it will be worth your while to check us out when you can. I will try to be semi-regular in my blogging, but who knows how often it will actually happen.
