Walker is 7!!

Someone, please slow down time.  How is it possible that my baby boy is SEVEN!?  I've heard the quote… The days are long but the years are fast.  Boy, is that so true!

Walker successfully made his birthday last and last… with a lot of celebrations!

First up… An American Ninja Warrior party with his buddies!

He loves that place and all the fun obstacles.

And, a very fun game a dodgeball!

Mr. Star Wars had to have a Star Wars cake.

Here's the whole party with their tough poses!

And, when we got home, he had WAY too many presents to open!  Wow.

The next day, Peepaw and Maggie and Nanna and Bubba came for a little birthday visit!

And, he got a new WiiU from Mommy and Daddy.  Thankfully, Nanna and Bubba gave him a Star Wars game!

He's hooked.

And, the celebrating wasn't over yet.  I took, you guessed it…. Star Wars cookies to school on his actual birthday!

Wow, look how grown up he is here….

And, last, but not least… mexican food for dinner!  He enjoyed the singing and whipped cream!

Whew!  Lots of fun celebrating this precious boy.  Walker, we are so proud to be your parents.  You are the sweetest, most kind-hearted, thoughtful, sensitive, and smart seven-year old in the world.

Memaw

My sweet Memaw went to be with Jesus.  While I miss her, I appreciate that it is a blessing that she's no longer suffering.  She's been ready to go home for a long time!

Here are some good memories! Both of these pictures were taken at Lake LBJ.  We always had the best time there.

Memaw was my only grandparent at my wedding…. She and Aunt Connie came to the bridesmaid luncheon.

She looked so pretty in her red suit… which matched the whole wedding!

I love this one of Memaw and Walker!

And, getting to meet Everly for the first time!

When we got to Lampasas for the funeral, I took the kids outside to play in the backyard.  I had lots of fun back there growing up… and, they attempted to climb the tree I always climbed!

So sweet.  And, I have to include this story because it just cracked me up.  After the funeral, we were in the car getting ready to go to the cemetery.  Everly blurted out, "Mommy, how long will it take them to dig that hole??? And, when it's done do they just throw Memaw in??"  Clark and I started laughing hysterically.

As you all know, our family has dealt with way too many funerals over the last few years.  We've never taken Walker and Everly.  We did this time and they handled it like champs.  Walker saw Memaw and said, "I know that's her body, but she's not there, she's in heaven."  So thankful that he gets it.  And, that his little sister hears him say that.

I bet Memaw had quite the reunion with Googie, Trisha and Carson!

Special Christmas Treat

I had this great idea that I would post this really fabulous video.  It's of Walker reciting his memory verse from December.  Did I say verse?  I meant verses.  A lot of verses!  He learned Luke 2: 7-16.

This silly website won't let me post the video because it's too big.  That makes me sad, because listening to him recite it is so fabulous!  But, I am going to put the verses on the blog so we can all remember this special Christmas treat!

Luke 2: 7-16
And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.  And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the Glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." and suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased." When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us"  So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph and the baby as he laid in the manger.

New Reader

We have a new reader in the house!  Everly is very hungry for books…. it helps that she has a reading log and whenever she fills it up she gets a free Chiller Bee!

Such an awesome reward to help make reading even more fun.

As you can see, she had a friend join her for frozen yogurt.  That's Golly.  Her class pet.  Golly gets to go home with the kids and they write about him in his journal.  She thought this was BIG fun!

She was excited to introduce Golly to Elsa and Anna.

But, then it was back to more reading.  Everly said to Walker, "Will you help me make sure I get all the words right?"

Of course big brother is right there to help.  Love these two and their precious relationship!

Fear the Frog

WoodWords readers know how much we love football.  Especially college football.  And, most especially the Horned Frogs and Longhorns.  So, when TCU landed in the Alamo Bowl, we made plans to be there!  The best part?  Being back with my ZTA girls!

Such a fun time catching up…. as always, it's like no time passed.  Then it was time for the BIG game. Not sure if you've heard, but it didn't start very well.   Oregon was beating us 31-0 at halftime.  This is what we looked like:

But, things changed in the second half….

Our awesome Frogs fought back.  Tied it up and took into TRIPLE overtime!  And WON!!!!  Wow, it was A.MAZ.ING!

Seriously, the most exciting game I've ever been to.  So. Fun! Horned Frogs NEVER QUIT!

We got to go celebrate when it was over.

Such a fabulously fun time to start 2016!

Skipper the Elf

The Wood house has never had an elf.  For some reason we didn't really see the need for an elf to come  here.  But, both the kids started hearing about elves.  They wanted to know why didn't have one.  So, after a lot of thought, Skipper finally showed up at our house.  But, he wasn't interested in knowing about naughty or nice.  He wanted to make sure the kids were being blessings to other.  To check to see if they were talking about Jesus and being His light.  It worked out great.  We all had fun finding out where Skipper would be next.  I'm excited that Skipper didn't show up sooner…. Six and five year olds love the magic.  Mom and Dad do to!

Here are some highlights.
